Movement Science Minor

Movement science is the study of physical activity, which is central to the pursuit of optimizing health and wellness across all populations and ages.

Program Overview

This minor provides you with a broad perspective on the value of sports and exercise as it relates to maintaining overall health and wellness. It provides foundational knowledge in the cultural, historical, and philosophical dimensions of physical activity, its role in health and wellness, scientific foundations, and practice.

Open to all except exercise science, sport management, or health and physical education majors.

Coursework

The minor consists of a minimum of 24 credits. Required:

  • EXS 210 - The Science of Human Movement and Exercise
  • FIT 100 level courses, minimum of two, no more than three
  • HPE 207 - Personal Health and Wellness
  • MOV 101 - Foundations of Human Movement Science
  • SPM 202 - Social/Cultural Dimension of Sport
